India, Brazil agree to further strengthen ties in agriculture, allied sectorsedit

India and Brazil have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in agriculture and allied farm sectors. Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Dairying Minister Parshottam Rupala met his Brazilian counterpart Marcos Cordeiro during a five-day visit that concluded on May 20. “Rupala held very fruitful discussions with his Brazilian counterpart and both ministers agreed to further strengthen the mutually beneficial ties,” an official statement said. Swaraj Tractors, part of Mahindra Group, has awarded a scholarship to 58 students including 15 girls under Mera Swaraj Education Support Program. The ‘Mera Swaraj Education Support Program’ was launched last year for engineering students across the country and aims to create a future pool of engineers. Over 1500 engineering students applied for this scholarship this year out of which 148 students were shortlisted post-screening and written test. Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday launched the ‘Kalaignarin All Villages Integrated Agricultural Development Programme’ that proposes overall agriculture development in all the 15,525 village panchayats through a convergence of Union and State government schemes and externally-aided projects in five years. In the current year, the programme will cover 1,997 village panchayats at a cost of Rs 227.06 crore and benefit over nine lakh agricultural families.
