The new IoT (Internet of Things) system for landslides, that is being put in place, is custom developed for Himalayan geology, said Maneesha Sudheer, Director, Center for Wireless Networks and Applications, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Sudheer, Awho spearheads landslide research at the university, said the system consists of over 200 sensors which can measure geophysical and hydrological parameters like rainfall, pore pressure and seismic activity.

BSE launches ‘chatbot’ for faster access to stock mkt infoedit

Leading stock exchange BSE yesterday announced the launch of ‘Ask Motabhai’, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based ‘chatbot’, to provide on-demand data and information from its website. The chatbot has been built in partnership with Microsoft and Shephertz, the BSE said in a statement. The move is aimed at making it convenient and faster for investors, especially small and retail, to get stock and market information.

Govt set to OK Rs 3,500cr e-vehicle sopedit

The government is set to approve a subsidy of around Rs 3,500 crore for promoting electric vehicles over the next five years as part of the FAME 2 plan, while limiting support only to government-run buses and denying benefit currently available to private vehicles, including hybrids. The plan leaves out private cars, cab aggregators, two-wheelers and even hybrid vehicles from the government’s financial incentive package that is aimed at supporting green mobility initiatives.
