Tamil Nadu government to renovate 10 bus depots at Rs 50 croreedit

The Tamil Nadu transport department will soon renovate 10 government bus stands and depots at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore. At a review meeting held on Friday, transport secretary B Chandramohan urged his subordinates to speed up related work and prepare a detailed action plan to refurbish 16 other depots in Chennai under the smart city project as announced earlier.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to run electric bus between Nashik and Pune in the next couple of months even as the service will be launched across the major cities simultaneously. “MSRTC has now decided to run the buses on electricity instead of fossil fuel which will cut down on the cost of import. This will be a first step towards taking up the entire fleet of buses on electricity,” MSRTC sources said.
