IKEA’S INDIA ENTRY MAY QUICKEN SHIFT TO ORGANIZED FURNITUREedit

Swedish giant Ikea Group’s entry into India will likely accelerate expansion of the country’s organized furniture market. But the company will have to rely heavily on after-sales assembly services rather than the do-it-yourself (DIY) model it uses elsewhere if it is to become really successful, experts said.

Ikea gears up for launchedit

IKEA, the Swedish home furnishings company which is expected to start its sales in the city shortly, organised an event at Forum mall. In the event a mascot dressed as IKEA’s heart-shaped cushion icon, Famnig Hajarta, walked around the mall with a placard that read ‘Free coffee for hugs’.
