After the paddy harvest, farmers in Punjab are now preparing for the next sowing season, and to prepare the fields, they are burning the stubble in the fields. Visuals from Amritsar show farmers setting the stubble on fire, saying they have no other way to dispose the crop residue. They also claim that the government is needlessly targeting them as it ignoring industries that cause much greater pollution. It may be recalled that stubble burning in Punjab, Haryana and UP contribute to increasing pollution in Delhi.
