Government electric vehicle scheme for doorstep delivery servicesedit

The Delhi government is looking to launch an electric vehicle (EV) scheme for the industry that engages in app-based doorstep delivery of goods and services. The government’s Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi (DDCD) said on Tuesday that the scheme, in all likelihood, will be based on offering incentives to delivery companies to shift to electric vehicles.

The broader idea is to support the city in identifying, developing and integrating mobility pilot projects.

For the first time in Jammu and Kashmir, an electric bus service was operationalised on Monday in Jammu city. An official statement said, “K Skandan, advisor to state Governor today flagged off the electric bus service from Railway Station, Jammu.”

Sachin Bansal, former CEO of Flipkart, is betting big on India’s electric two-wheeler space. An angel investor in Ather Energy, an electric scooter start-up from Bengaluru, Bansal on Tuesday infused an additional capital of Rs 223 crore in Ather in his personal capacity. In an interview with ET, Bansal said Ather has plans to sell over a million units annually in the next five years and reckons the company has the potential to lead the EV two-wheeler space.

Ola Electric Mobility Private Limited announced that it has appointed former CEO of Vodafone Group Plc Arun Sarin as an independent director on its board. Sarin, who has also invested in Ola (first in 2015) and in Ola Electric in its series-A funding earlier this year, will be a mentor and advisor to the latter in its overall business strategy.

Greaves launches electric scooter Ampere Zealedit

Greaves Cotton, one of India’s diversified engineering companies, on Tuesday has rolled out the high-speed electric scooter, Zeal. Under the FAME II benefit, Zeal will attract Rs 18,000 in subsidy for the customer and thus making this high performance electric scooter, a viable mobility option for Indians, the company said in a statement.
