The agricultural technology (agritech) industry’s founders and investors have welcomed the government’s emphasis on public-private partnerships for post-harvest innovation in the interim budget for 2024. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her announcement of the interim budget for 2024, emphasised the government’s intentions to encourage both private and public investment in post-harvest activities. This includes areas such as aggregation, modern storage, efficient supply chain, primary and secondary processing, marketing, and branding.

For FY25, Agriculture Ministry gets Rs 1.27 lakh cr allocation in Budgetedit

The government has allocated Rs 1.27 lakh crore budget for the Ministry of Agriculture for 2024-25, marginally higher than the current fiscal. According to the budget document, the agriculture ministry has been allocated Rs 1,27,469.88 crore for 2024-25 financial year, of which the Department of Agriculture will get Rs 1,17,528.79 crore while the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) Rs 9,941.09 crore.

Mahindra & Mahindra sold 23,948 tractors in month of January 2024 compared to 28,925 tractors in January 2023, recording decline of 17%. Domestic tractors sales declined 17% to 22,972 units while exports declined 25% to 976 units.
