Publicis Worldwide is launching its Parisbased creative agency Marcel in India. It’s headquartered in Mumbai.

The French network is also changing its business structure here by merging its agency brands Publicis Ambience and Publicis Capital to create Publicis Worldwide India.

Publicis has appointed Srija Chatterjee as managing director and Sudeep Gohil as chief strategy officer to run all the Publicis Worldwide operations in the country, including Marcel and Publicis Worldwide India. They will report to Saurabh Varma, CEO at Publicis Communications India.

Publicis Media bags digital mandate for Uber in Indiaedit

Publicis Media has bagged the digital mandate for Uber, the San Francisco-headquartered taxi aggregator, confirm industry sources.

The digital pitch was initiated in October last year and saw participation from agencies from GroupM, IPG Mediabrands, and Dentsu Aegis Network. The pitch process involved three rounds.

Surprise! India trusts its media

The report shows that despite trust in media hitting an all-time low of 43% globally; India was among the three countries in which media was trusted. The other countries are China and Indonesia. Moreover, trust in Indian media has increased 3% from 2016 to 66% in 2017. It has also reported 6 points and 4 points increase in trust in Indian traditional and online media, respectively.

Three international publishers today moved court to withdraw a five-year-long lawsuit against photocopying of textbooks for use as study material in Delhi University.

The petition brings the curtains down on a battle whose outcome drew populist applause but left unanswered questions on ensuring the quality of specialised textbooks, just remuneration for scholars who write such books and the viability of the publishing business model.

The case had started in 2012 after the publishers moved the high court against the photocopy shop, Rameshwari Photocopy, on the campus of the Delhi School of Economics, which is part of Delhi University.
