Delhi Govt Begins Work On Installing 75 EV Charging Stations In Cityedit

State-run Energy Efficiency Service Ltd (EESL), in collaboration with South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), on November 18, inaugurated the first electric vehicle public charging station in South Delhi. The charging station, which is installed near SDMC market area of Greater Kailash, is just the first one of the 75 charging stations the bodies are planning to install in Delhi. With this move, EESL and SDMC plans to set up boost the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the national capital.

The Judicial Preview Commission of the Andhra Pradesh government has asked the State Road Transport Corporation to drop the move to induct eco-friendly electric buses into its fleet and suggested purchase of new diesel buses to replace the aged vehicles. In an effort to encourage the use of e-vehicles in a big way, the Telangana government plans to set up fast-charging stations for hassle-free commuting. “The Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd (TSREDCO) will install 200 of these fast-charging stations under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC-HMDA-ORR) limits and the locations will be finalised before March 2020,” the corporation’s director N Janaiah told Telangana Today. “It is proposed that at least 30 per cent of these chargers should be powered by solar units,” he said.
