Piaggio aims at introducing the range along with adequate battery swapping facilities in 10-15 ci- ties in India by March 2020.

Talking about the future of electric cars in India, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that per kilometer cost of an electric vehicle is Re 1 whereas that of the petrol is Rs 7. Giving an example of a normal car user, Gadkari said that if a car user is spending Rs 7000 on car fuel, he will have to spend only Rs 1000 on an electric vehicle, so there is a saving of around Rs 5000 to Rs 6000 if transitioned to the electric vehicle.

Hyderabad-based Olectra Greentech Ltd (formerly Goldstone Infratech Ltd) and its Chinese technical partner BYD are likely to emerge as the lowest bidder in the electric bus project of state corporations in Karnataka, multiple sources in state transport undertakings (STUs) said. Under phase II of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME), 400 electric buses are to be inducted across the state. This includes 300 buses for BMTC, 50 for KSRTC for inter-city operations and another 50 for Hubballi-Dharwad BRTS (NWKRTC).

Electric vehicles (EV) are the UK’s fastest-selling used cars, according to market data analysed by Cap HPI – taking an average of just 39 days to leave car dealers’ forecourts. The automotive pricing and sales data specialist found that pure electric vehicles were the most in-demand products currently on the market, selling an average of five days faster than a petrol hybrid, six days faster than a diesel car, nine days faster than a petrol car and 14 days faster than a diesel hybrid.
