The firm was earlier looking at launching products in the 150cc motorcycle segment, but with the market moving towards higher-displacement bikes, the plan now is to introduce products in the 250-300cc range, managing director Diego Graffi told.

Govt Invites Proposals To Build EV Charging Infrastructure Under FAME IIedit

In continuation of the government’s second phase of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME II), the government is inviting proposals for development of EV charging infrastructure. In a notification, the Ministry of Heavy Industries said that the Expression of Interest is being issued for inviting proposals from Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)/municipal corporations, PSUs (State/Central) and public/private entities desirous for development of EV charging infrastructure.

Exempt LPG & CNG autos from getting permits: Unions to govtedit

After the Centre’s move to exempt electric vehicles from the need for passenger transport permit, auto unions across the state are urging the government to implement the same for LPG and CNG autos. The Centre has provided several benefits to electric vehicles such as waiver of parking fee, toll charges, priority parking etc. The unions feel that the exemption will not only lessen financial burden but also bring down pollution levels in the city.

Methanol blend on cards, may trim oil import bill by Rs 5,000 croreedit

The government is looking at introducing methanol-blended fuel pan India — a move that can potentially reduce one’s fuel bill by at least 10%, lower vehicular pollution levels by over 30%, and save the exchequer Rs 5,000 crore in annual import bill. Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari has written to petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, asking him to “make all efforts” to make methanol widely available for commercial use at fuel stations, officials told ET.

In an official tweet, BMW wrote that statistically, one EV was sold every four minutes. The company is aiming to sell one million EVs by 2021, Engadget notes.
