Nearly a dozen electric cars will hit the roads next year, mainly in the hatchback and compact SUV segments, with several manufacturers planning to test the waters and identify the potential customer base, even as demand remains extremely low. Experts believe the move is to showcase technological strength and be ahead of the demand while trying to have a first mover advantage. Besides, the vehicles can primarily target corporate houses and for other commercial application, as private consumers are still apprehensive of spending on e-cars.

BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Monday launched the e-Yano app in Karimnagar. Later, he said that pollution can be reduced to a great extent by using vehicles that run with electricity. The autos, which run either by petrol or diesel, will emit around 7 kgs of carbon-dioxide for just 100 kilometres and are major cause of pollution in towns and cities.

However, before the automobile manufacturer officially showcases the Nexon EV, it has been spied testing in Pune. We are expecting the Nexon EV to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 17 lakh.

DAO plans to launch electric two-wheelers in Hyderabadedit

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, DAO EVTech, is all set to launch its operations in India by February 2020. The company has started assembling electric two-wheelers at its leased factory in Hyderabad and will start rolling out the vehicles by February. However, 2020-end the company plans to set up its own automobile complex in Andhra Pradesh near Krishnapatnam Port and have its own manufacturing unit with a capacity of 500,000 vehicles per annum.
