Mahindra Electric partners SmartE for last-mile connectivityedit

Mahindra Electric Mobility and SmartE, an electric vehicle owner and aggregator operating in Delhi-NCR, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) for deploying electric vehicles for last-mile connectivity in India. As per the MoU, SmartE will introduce the first 1,000 Mahindra Treo and Treo Yaari electric three-wheelers in the Delhi-NCR region by March 2019. The company also plans to deploy a total of 10,000 Mahindra electric three-wheelers across the country by 2020.  The MoU was signed by Mahesh Babu, CEO, Mahindra Electric and Goldie Srivastava, co-founder and CEO, SmartE in New Delhi.

The government of India, reportedly, is planning to impose a green tax on petrol and diesel cars to boost the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) in India. It is planning to utilise the tax to provide subsidies on the purchase of electric cars. It is in talks to lower down its financial implications coming out of subsidising EV buyers.

ChargePoint to equip Daimler dealers with electric car chargersedit

ChargePoint, one of the world’s biggest operators of charging equipment for electric vehicles, has struck a deal to supply Daimler retailers with slow and fast chargers. The move, part of the Silicon Valley-based firm’s foray into the European market, comes only two weeks after a $240 million funding round, its biggest ever, in which Daimler – already an investor – took part via its trucks and buses unit.

BMW and Porsche Just Beat Tesla to Three-Minute Chargeedit

BMW AG and Porsche unveiled a charging station that can jolt electric vehicles with enough power to drive 100 kilometers (62 miles) in less than three minutes, pushing ahead of Tesla Inc. in the race to make battery-powered cars more convenient. The ultra-fast prototype charger has capacity of 450 kilowatts, more than triple Tesla’s Superchargers. Test vehicles developed to take that much power were recharged to 80 percent capacity in 15 minutes. Tesla’s stations need about 30 minutes for a similar charge, according to its website.
