CES 2020: AMD keeps up with the rest, unveils four new GPUs, processors (PROACTIVE)edit

It has barely been a day into CES 2020 and we have already seen scores of interesting devices including robots, gaming laptops and gigantic smart TVs, being unveiled at the event. Following suit, AMD unveiled four new GPUs and CPUs for mobile and desktop platforms. AMD Radeon RX 5600 series. AMD’s newly launched RX 56 series consists of four GPUs.

Amidst a bunch of premium laptops toting Intel processors, AMD has gone on to unveil the Ryzen 4000 series processors at the event. AMD also goes on to unveil new Radeon branded graphics cards based on AMD RDNA architecture. These chips promise a lot of performance and several laptops makers have already announced new models using these new AMD chips.

CES 2020 has kicked off, and the red team is bringing its A-game to the battlefield by unveiling their next generation of mobile processors to start off 2020. At CES 2020, AMD pulled off the curtain from its 3rd gen Ryzen 4000 laptop processors. Just last year, at CES 2019, Lisa Su had revealed the Radeon 7, which marked the transition of AMD chips to the 7nm process. The Navi and Ryzen 3000 desktop chips are now all using the 7nm architecture.

AMD at CES 2020 unveiled its next generation of laptop processors, the Ryzen 4000 Series. Despite the naming convention, these processors are based on the same Zen 2 architecture as the Ryzen 3000 series desktop lineup. With this launch, AMD is offering up to 8 cores and 16 threads even for ultra-slim laptops, within a 15W TDP. Six 15W U-series models and two 45W H-series models have been announced, as well as a new low-end Athlon Silver and Athlon Gold 3xxx models for entry-level laptops. AMD says that these CPUs will be available in shipping products in early 2020.

AMD’s naming scheme made it all but apparent that the company would be coming out with a Radeon RX 5600-series graphics processor to slot between the RX 5500- and RX 5700-series GPUs. Sure enough, AMD announced just that at its press event for CES 2020. Specifically, AMD announced the Radeon RX 5600 XT. It touts the new graphics processor as the ultimate choice for 1080p gaming, with enough power to handle recent AAA games at max settings while delivering over 60 fps.

CES 2020: Asus showcases the world’s first 360Hz monitor with G-Sync supportedit

Asus is continually breaking ground with gaming screens for both smartphones, laptops and monitors. In 2019, Asus became the first brand to launch a 120Hz Super AMOLED smartphone display as well as a laptop with a 300Hz refresh rate panel.
