CES 2020: AMD launches Ryzen 4000 mobile processors in bid to challenge Intel’s laptop domination (PROACTIVE)edit

Though Intel has been losing ground to AMD on the desktop front, Team Blue’s domination in mobile computing continues to go unchallenged. AMD, however, is attempting to change that at CES 2020. AMD President and CEO Dr Lisa Su delivered a press conference unveiling several new products, in particular, the new Ryzen 4000 Series Mobile Processors. The Ryzen 4000 series marks the first time TSMC 7nm fabrication process is used in the mobile computing space. According to AMD, the Ryzen 7 4800U surpasses Intel’s Core i7-1065G7 when it comes to gaming.

The Ryzen 4000 mobile APUs come in three variants — the U-series with a cTDP of 15-28W, the H-series with a cTDP of 35-45W, and the Pro versions of these targeted towards professional users with added security and enterprise management.

The AMD Ryzen 7 4800U, which was flaunted at the AMD press conference, is part of the company’s Ryzen 4000 Mobile series processors, and will reportedly offer a big benefit for usage in ultra-thin laptops. In order to show the straight-up performance benefits, AMD pit the Ryzen 7 4800U laptop processor, designed for mid-range thin and light laptops, against Intel’s 10nm Ice Lake 10th gen Core i7-1065G7 – a pretty high performance chip.

Coming to the frame times, we ran Gears 5, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Borderlands 3 to look for any frame time inconsistencies.

CES 2020: Intel Introduces Its First Foldable Laptopedit

Intel has showcased its prototype foldable laptop at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020. The laptop is named as Horseshoe Bend and is somehow similar to the Lenovo ThinkPadX1 Fold. However, the former is bigger than the latter. The Horseshoe Bend features an OLED display and a 17.3-inch display. It supports kickstand and wireless keyboard.
